Charles Alexander K. Salatka (February 26, 1918 – March 17, 2003) was the second Roman Catholic Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and the ninth bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Marquette, Michigan.
Biography
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Salatka was ordained a priest for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids on February 24, 1945. He became the first pastor of St. Michael's Parish in the Diocese of Grand Rapids in 1950. In 1959, he was given the title of Monsignor. On December 9, 1961, Pope John XXIII appointed him auxiliary bishop of the Grand Rapids Diocese and he was consecrated on March 6, 1962. On January 10, 1968, Pope Paul VI appointed Salatka Bishop of the Marquette Diocese.Pope Paul VI appointed Bishop Salatka Archbishop of the Oklahoma City Archdiocese on October 11, 1977, and he retired on November 24, 1992.
